Redding, California (September 24, 2024) – Layton has officially broken ground on the highly anticipated Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center, marking a significant milestone in cancer care for Northern California.

The design-build project, classified as an OSHPD 3 cancer center, will be located on an 11-acre campus near Cypress Avenue and Hartnell Avenue in Redding. The facility is set to be the future of cancer care that will provide a wide range of cancer treatment services and support all under one roof.

Currently, cancer patients in Northern California travel between multiple locations for varying treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, physician consultations, lab draws, imaging scans, and support services. The Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center will centralize these services, including medical oncology, radiation oncology, breast consultations, infusion areas, radiology, a pharmacy, and same-day care all in one place. The facility will also include education facilities, lab space, clinical and non-clinical support areas, and a welcoming space for public and family support.

Significantly reducing the travel burden on patients and families will ultimately help alleviate stress and allow them to focus on healing, an element Layton Vice President Chris Jensen marks as one of the project’s largest contributors to the area.

“Layton is honored to be part of this project that will bring important cancer care services to Redding and the surrounding communities. This cancer center has been several years in the making, and it’s exciting to see it now moving into the construction phase” says Jensen. “Layton has been blessed with opportunities to make a difference in the fight against cancer, from building state-of-the-art cancer care and research facilities to our involvement with the 5 For The Fight organization. We are truly honored to be able to continue that legacy as we build the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center.”

Scheduled for completion in spring of 2026, the Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center will be a vital resource for the region, offering advanced care for patients in the area.
