In a high-end renovation of the plaza-level floor of a critical care tower—which entailed a complete demolition of the space—Layton added 26 pediatric critical care beds. The state-of-the-art suite includes flagship spaces for patients, such as family/playroom and lounge areas, a game/movie room, and an interactive lobby. With another project immediately below, multilevel coordination and phasing were crucial in mitigating impact and maintaining a level III infection control site. Not to mention, the project was on a tight timeline with multiple last-minute design changes.
