The 2 million SF, progressive design-build (PDB) program is on a rapid schedule, with six to eight months of collaborative design and completion before the end of 2028. Each of the five dormitories will be 400,000 SF and will house approximately 6,000 joint-force combat medic students attending the  (METC).

“We’re going to watch these gigantic buildings go up in a year,” said Layton Construction Design Manager Clint Watson. “It’s both exciting and incredibly challenging. We’re working around the clock to make it happen and do it right.”

The project will incorporate extensive modular and prefabricated construction strategies, along with lean and highly integrated design processes.

PDB delivery method on this project has accelerated the timeline by 70% and reduced costs by 20%.

“This award is the culmination of several years of hard work, relationship building, and proven performance throughout the government’s procurement process,” said Layton Construction Executive Vice President Eric Nay. “This is a tremendous win and will demonstrate what Layton can accomplish at scale.”
