Scottsdale, AZ (March 20, 2026) –Layton’s Arizona team has long been recognized in the local market as a leader in construction, consistently demonstrated through company- and project-based awards. At this year’s AZRE RED Awards, it was no different: Layton was named General Contractor of the Year and brought home three Project of the Year awards in three different categories.
Layton Executive Vice President, Jimmy Tometich expressed his gratitude for this award. “There are a lot of great firms doing great work in Arizona. Winning this says more about the people we work with than it does about us—our clients, design partners, trade partners, and talented team. We’re thankful for all of them.”
AZRE’s RED Awards are based on various criteria, but every project deemed “best” comes down to its contribution to the community, innovative approach, and high standard for quality. See below for details on each of Layton’s awarded projects.

From a sustainability perspective, Luke Field ranks among a select group of new metro Phoenix Class A industrial projects that are LEED Gold certified, emphasizing locally sourced materials, operational efficiency, and long-term cost savings.

The Maeve and ANOVA | Central Station | Phoenix, AZ
Category: Mixed-Use
1,100,000 SF

Developer: GMH Communities | Architect: Multistudio
The Central Station development is anchored by two architecturally striking towers designed by Multistudio: The Maeve Central Station, a 33-story mixed-use tower, and ANOVA Central Station, a 22-story residential tower with dedicated student housing. Together, they deliver 338 residential units, 629 student beds, and 7% workforce housing, expanding housing diversity for downtown residents, students, and professionals. Both towers rise above a two-level, 200,000 SF subterranean parking structure.
More than 30,000 SF of street-level retail and dining activate the site throughout the day, while desert-adapted landscaping, wide sidewalks, and shade-first design prioritize comfort and walkability. Climate-responsive architecture defines the project, with white façades, vertical fins, slab extensions, and self-shading panels tuned to solar orientation.
Delivered through a public–private partnership with the city of Phoenix, Central Station maintained uninterrupted transit operations throughout construction. The result is a safe, welcoming mobility hub and a replicable model for high-density, desert-based urban growth.
