For Layton Arizona, there’s much to be said about 2023’s AZRE RED Awards. Amidst a record-setting number of project submissions, stiff competition, and a sold-out crowd at the annual event, Layton took home top honors: General Contractor of the Year. Not to mention, three of our projects stood out among countless others to be crowned the best in their respective categories.

These wins represent Layton’s commitment to hard work and quality service, and the craftsmanship our trade partners bring to our projects.

A Nice Ring: Arizona Contractor of the Year

Year after year, project after project, Layton strives to go the extra mile to ensure everything we put our name on says “best in class”. But we don’t do it for the award; we do it for the communities we work in, our clients who seek top-notch spaces, and for the improvement of the built world. We’re proud of the work we do, and we’re grateful to be recognized as leaders in our industry.

Diving into the Details: Layton Arizona’s Best Projects of the Year

Buckeye85
Industrial Project of the Year (320,001 SF-755,000 SF)

Developer: LPC Desert West | Architect: Butler Design Group

As the first phase of a massive 1.7M SF development, Buckeye85 is a 94-door cross-dock industrial warehouse with state-of-the-art freezer/cooler capabilities, clerestory windows for natural light, shaded and landscaped areas, built-in barbeque equipment, and seating for outdoor relaxing, dining, and games.

Nextiva Headquarters
Office Interiors Project of the Year (More than 18,000 SF)

Developer: Alter Group | Architect: RSP Architects

Boasting a Class A, open concept, Nextiva’s office fosters creative thinking, promotes collaboration, and functions to meet every user need. It comes complete with elegant touches, innovative features, agile workspaces, and an overall inviting atmosphere. Working together with Nextiva, we created a custom concept centered on the company’s culture and bringing separate teams under one roof—while ensuring room for growth.

Retail Building at Cavasson
Retail Project of the Year

Developer: Nationwide Realty Investors | Architect: Butler Design Group

Serving the surrounding mixed-use Cavasson development, this single-level speculative retail and restaurant space goes well beyond the norm. Large glass windows open to mountain views via an outdoor patio, drawing light deep into the building, while limestone walls anchor the building design. Various stone throughout the space—sourced from as far as Jerusalem—required exceptional care from the project team. Finally, lush and sustainable landscaping surrounds the property, including small rocks, native plants, and large Saguaro cacti with strategic up-lighting to enhance the property’s look. All in all, absolutely no corners were cut in this build—and it’s obvious.

Looking Forward to Continually Raising the Bar

As we celebrate this recognition, we’re excited to continue on our path of building amazing spaces and exceeding our clients’ expectations. Thank you to all of our employees, trade partners, and the Arizona Department of Real Estate who made this possible. Here’s to looking ahead and competing again next year!
