Redding, California (September 8, 2026)—Cancer is one of Shasta County’s leading causes of death, with a higher incident and death rate than the state average, according to the California Department of Public Health. The completion of Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center, built by Layton Construction, will save both patient lives and time.
Before Sierra Pacific Regional Cancer Center, cancer patients were forced to travel to various facilities across Northern California for treatments such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy, lab draws, and imaging scans. Now those services are centralized.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with Dignity Health as they combine lifesaving cancer care services under one roof,” says Layton Construction Manager Robert Mitchell. “We are thrilled to be part of such an outstanding addition to the City of Redding.”
The 43,800 SF design-build project with Cuningham sits on an 11-acre campus and includes:
- Education facilities
- Linear accelerator
- PET-CT imaging
- Retail pharmacy
“We are honored to be part of a project that will bring healing and comfort to those battling cancer in Shasta County,” said Layton Vice President Chris Jensen. “We are grateful for our partnership with CommonSpirit, Cuningham, all our design consultants, and trade partners. The collaboration of this team is unmatched, and the final product reflects their finesse and intention to always put patient needs first.”
The project broke ground fall of 2024.
