State Hospital West | Adolescent Psychiatric Treatment Center

Serving a key need for adolescent behavioral health in the region, this ground-up facility includes 16 residential rooms, treatment facilities, classrooms and activity areas, consultation rooms, two comforting rooms, safety rooms, office space, a full commercial kitchen, and welcoming lobby. The team also completed four acres of site development for gardens, walking paths, manicured and shaded grounds, and a covered area for recreation. A challenging element was the hybrid structural system of gauge framing members and structural steel, which Layton ultimately accomplished.
