Double duty: expanding and renovating an active hospital.
Building a patient tower addition on an active hospital campus presents unique challenges that go well beyond typical construction projects. Layton successfully completed a complex three-story expansion that included a new central energy plant, ICU facilities, waiting areas, and lounges—all while simultaneously renovating the existing south tower.

The construction site presented significant logistical and technical hurdles. Without access to a buck hoist for moving materials, the crew had to develop creative material management strategies. The foundation work proved particularly challenging, requiring underwater construction techniques and extensive dewatering operations. Despite these obstacles, Layton maintained strong project efficiency while prioritizing safety, completing the entire project without a single lost-time accident or first-aid incident.
