Mesa Arts Center

Located in downtown Mesa, the Mesa Arts Center covers an entire city block. This facility includes four theaters: the Ikeda Theater—a 1,600-seat lyric theater, a 550-seat repertory theater, a 200-seat playhouse theater, and a 99-seat black box signature theater. The design was inspired by elements of the surrounding desert. Layton’s concrete crews placed approximately 28,000 cubic yards of concrete. Not only was the aggregate used in foundations, footings, and floors, but in exposed interior and exterior walls, giant architectural structures, single-form staircases, and a large waterfall.
