Tempe, AZ (May 29, 2025) – Just steps away from Arizona State University, Astria Tempe—a 27-story high-rise residential tower—is under construction in the heart of the downtown corridor, set to be a bold landmark in the city’s skyline. As construction progresses, it’s also anticipated to be the second tallest building in Tempe.
Astria Tempe will house an array of amenities and features while preserving long-standing community ties with neighboring All Saints Catholic Newman Center. Additional features of the high-rise tower include:
- 380 residential units on levels 8-26, offering sweeping views of the city and desert landscape.
- Seven levels of parking integrated with leading amenity and retail space, designed to support both resident and visitor needs.
- Retail on the ground floor totaling 3,000 square feet
- A rooftop pool and spa, fitness center, co-working lounge, and pet friendly areas.
- Vertical lifestyle layout, with amenity spaces strategically located on levels 4, 8, and the penthouse floor.
Designed by Gensler with Niles Bolton Associates as the architect of record, the project is being developed by Trinitas Ventures. Layton is managing all phases of construction, ensuring quality and safety across every level of the build. With its location in a high-traffic area, the Layton team is navigating site logistics and coordination with the city and utility providers to keep the project on track.
Astria Tempe taps into Layton’s multifamily high-rise expertise, orchestrating numerous construction activities on a constrained 0.61-acre site. To meet urban staging requirements, carefully phased night pours optimize efficiency while reducing street disruptions. Deep foundations address local alluvial soils typical to this corridor. Enhanced quality control through reality capture technology is being implemented to coordinate embeds, slab edge details, and MEP penetrations within the post-tensioned concrete structure.
Astria Tempe is slated to be complete in 2027 and adds to Layton’s growing portfolio of high-rise and residential projects.
