LAS VEGAS, Nevada (December 5, 2019) – Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas held a ribbon cutting ceremony December 5, 2019, for its new tower expansion. Hospital CEO Todd Sklamberg recognized Layton Construction “For your unwavering support and leadership in the construction of our new tower. We honor you for helping us rise together.”

Sunrise Hospital leadership likened the tower expansion to a phoenix rising from the ashes of the October 1, 2017 mass shooting. The Emergency Department at Sunrise Hospital is the largest by volume in all of the HCA facilities, and it consistently receives a record number of ambulances and patients. The new tower expansion enables continued growth and delivers critical operational needs to the community including a new helipad, trauma rooms, and 46 exam rooms.

The new tower is more than 191,000 sq. ft. and includes a Level 1 ED with X-ray and CT rooms, secure holding area, pharmacy, laboratory, a Level 2 ICU, and Level 3 Medsurg, as well as administration, financial, and central support spaces.

The project had an extremely aggressive 14-month schedule with many jurisdictional and public-utility constraints. The Layton team managed more than 500,000 man hours and delivered a successful, well-recognized project to Sunrise and the community of Las Vegas.
