On Thursday, August 26, Dixie State University (DSU) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of its new student housing, Campus View Suites II. Layton was awarded the project in December 2019 and officially broke ground on Jan. 31, 2020.
Construction Manager Brian McBeth’s remarks focused how the construction team overcame unique challenges to deliver a predictable outcome. “As a team, we were able to be successful and work through solutions to design and build this beautiful housing facility behind us and make sure it was completed on time and within budget.”
DSU President Richard B. Williams thanked everyone who made the building a reality and emphasized the importance of it to the university and its students. He added, “The mere fact that it was full in April with a waiting list tells us that we’re going to have to break ground soon on Campus View Suites number three. And so that is part of our master plan.”
About the Project
Campus View Suites II is a $45 million, 145,000 SF student-housing project on the campus of DSU in St. George, Utah. The 5-story complex accommodates 534 students, nearly doubling the number of students living on campus. Suites feature shared living space, restrooms, and a kitchenette as well as a variety of bedroom options, such as private, shared, and semi-private rooms. Additionally, the facility includes a large courtyard, pickleball courts, an outdoor hammock garden, a fitness room, lounges, and community kitchens that offer students various areas to socialize and study. The new complex is adjacent to Campus View Suites I, which Layton completed in August 2016.
