Layton and L3 Technologies Break Ground on New Engineering and Operations Center

Sean Stackley, President of L3 Technologies' Communications & Networked Systems business group, announced construction of a new Engineering and Operations Center October 2, 2018, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (October 2, 2018) – L3 Technologies company officials and employees were joined by members of Utah’s federal congressional delegation as Sean Stackley, President of the Communications & Networked Systems business segment announced construction of a new Engineering and Operations Center that will contribute to the company’s growth and key role in national defense contracting. L3 employs more than 3,500 persons in Utah.

The development on the L3 Campus on North 2200 West in Salt Lake City, contiguous to the Salt Lake International Airport, includes a manufacturing facility and parking structure to accommodate company employees.

Layton Construction is partnering with Drawbridge Realty, Atlanta Commercial, GSBS Architects and Cushman Wakefield to deliver the privately developed facility, which will be leased by L3 Technologies.

The building will be a 395,555 s.f. concrete tilt facility with embedded brick, metal panel and painted finishes. The three-story building also includes a third level outdoor courtyard. To be used primarily for manufacturing of L3’s communications components, the building includes a truck dock and loading area.

Parking for approximately 900 vehicles will be constructed in a five-level 160,000 s.f. parking structure.

With final design nearing completion, the permitting process with Salt Lake City is underway. Deep foundation work will begin in about eight weeks, with substantial completion in the early spring of 2020.
