The Summit at Snowbird
The Summit is a high altitude mountain restaurant and guest services station located at the top of Snowbird’s Hidden Peak at 11,000 feet in elevation.
The project is a three-level structure consisting of kitchen, employee space, ski patrol offices, and mechanical functions in the basement level. The first floor includes a main dining hall with cafeteria, kitchen storage, service area, restrooms, and outdoor deck. The second floor consists of a private dining room with reception, service areas and two outdoor decks.
The windows of The Summit are equal in size to two IMAX theater screens, providing 360 degrees of panoramic views from the top of the mountain.
Window systems are designed to withstand winds up to 130 miles per hour. Location and angle of the building relative to the Salt Lake Valley was determined using location modeling, which integrated the use of Google Earth and GIS to study glare down the canyon into the Salt Lake Valley to minimize reflection while maximizing views.
