Intermountain Healthcare is the largest health care provider in Utah and operates a fleet of helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft for emergency medical transport. The aircraft are stored and maintained in a new facility, built by Layton, on the east side of the Salt Lake International Airport (SLC).

The facility includes offices, storage space and the main hanger, which is equipped with a massive, sectional, sliding door on the east side, which serves as an entrance for all aircraft.

Because of heightened airport security, Layton personnel and subcontractors were required to meet strict federal security standards during construction.
