Intermountain Healthcare contracted with Layton to expand their Central Laundry Facility, located in Woods Cross. Because this was an expansion of an operational facility that furnishes hospitals and doctors’ offices with clean linens, the plant could not be shut down for construction. With the exception of one pre-approved 72-hour period, the facility remained fully operational throughout construction.

One challenge was ensuring that the plant would properly accommodate the new equipment supplied by the owner. Layton coordinated the installation of this equipment with subcontractors, making sure it would work properly with the existing facility. This trade coordination was critical to the success of the project and was at the forefront of Layton’s priorities. Layton took advantage of every opportunity to guarantee owner satisfaction in terms of budget, schedule and plant efficiency.
