Layton Breaks Ground on Kaua’i Lagoons
A traditional Hawaiian groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 5, 2008 for Kaua’i Lagoons, the first Ritz-Carlton development on the island of Kaua’i. Layton Construction is the general contractor for the project; WCIT Architecture of Honolulu is the architect.
The Kaua’i Lagoons development will include both private-ownership and fully furnished fractional ownership residences. Fourteen private-ownership Ritz-Carlton Residences will be built, offering two-, three- and four-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 2,500 to 3,500 square feet that are slated for occupancy in summer 2009. The Ritz-Carlton Club will feature 72 fully furnished fractional-ownership residences, offering two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging in size from 1,700 to 2,100 square feet that are set for occupancy in late 2009.
The resort also has future plans that include a full-service spa, water-taxi service, an upscale restaurant and golf courses that are being designed by former professional golfer Jack Nicklaus. Roughly 350 acres of the 520-acre site—including the golf courses—will remain as undeveloped green space.
